
The 2009 Escape is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, that comes in three trim levels- XLS, XLT & Limited. This fuel-efficient SUV is available in 11 trims, ranging from the XLS FWD Manual to the Limited 4WD V6. The 2009 Escape is a carryover from 2008, however, it has been launched with numerous improvements and major alterations. A more powerful and fuel-efficient 2.5-liter I-4, 171-horsepower engine and a new 6-speed automatic transmission leads the list of enhancements for 2009 Ford Escape. With the new engine and fuel-saving six-speed transmission, the new Ford Escape boasts better fuel economy. The new six-speed is calibrated for cruising fuel efficiency without sacrificing launch feel and performance feel in lower gears. A 3.0-liter V-6, 240-horsepower engine is also available.
The XLS with a 5-speed manual transmission achieves 22-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. The XLT models with a 6-speed automatic transmission, achieves 19-mpg in the city and 25 mile per gallon on the highway and the Limited models that feature a 6-speed automatic transmission gives 17-mpg in the city and 24-mpg on the highway.
